Mary Hannah Cochran was born at Bucks Grove, Jackson County,Kansas February 3rd,1884. Departed this life January 24th,1902, age 17 years and 11 months and 21 days. She came to Havensville with her parents in May 1889. On February 5th, 1901, she was joined in marriage with James Longstaff of Havensville who survives to mourn the loss of a bride of less than a year. At a camp-meeting held in 1893 she was converted and became a member of the Methodist church and at all times acted and lived the life of a Christian girl. Besides a husband she leaves a father and mother, Mr. & Mrs. F.M. Cochran, 4 brothers and three sisters. Last fall Mr. & Mrs. Longstaff moved to Lawton,Oklahoma but the climate and poor water proved to much for Mrs. Longstaff's health, and the source of the trouble that caused her untimely death was contracted there. They returned to Havensville in the early part of January. The funeral was held at the M.E. church. Sermon by her pastor Rev. I.L. Oakes, and her remains laid to rest in the Havensville Cemetery.
