Rev David Elam, a resident of Bond County for 88 years, died at his home in Woburn, September 16, 1915. He was born in Rutherford County, North Carolina, April 14, 1826.

He came to Bond County with his parents a year later and they settled north of Greenville. He was married 5 times. His last wife he married about five years ago. She was Mrs Betsy Woods and she with one son, John H of Arkansas survive. Four children have died. He also leaves three brothers, Abner of California, Alexander of Chapman, Kansas, and William of Indiana. Burial was in Hastings Cemetery near Woburn.
