Mrs Eva Anderson Wentworth
Flora Eva Anderson, daughter of Mr and Mrs J. F. Anderson, was born on July 7, 1899, at Birmingham, Iowa. Was a graduate of the Birmingham High School of the class of 1917. Had two years of college at Parsons.
On November 19, 1919, she was united in marriage to Harry David Wentworth of Brighton, Iowa, where they settled and lived. To this union was born one son, David Frank.
About seven years ago Mrs. Wentworth was taken sick and went to Boston for an operation, and again about three years ago another operation was performed. Since that time she has been in failing health, came to Birmingham and stayed at the home of her parents under the care of her mother, and after all that could be done for her, she passed away to her heavenly home on Sunday morning at the early hour of 1:20 o'clock.
There is left to mourn her departure, her loving husband and son, father and mother, one sister, Miss Berdena, and one brother John Frank, all of whom were with her to the end. Also a large number of relatives and friends.
Mrs Wentworth was baptized and received into the Methodist Church on April 11, 1907, under the pastorate of Rev. J.P. Cummins. She was a member of the choir and loved to sing the hymns of the church.
After her marriage she moved her church membership to Brighton where she was an active member to the time of her departure.
Mrs Wentworth was highly respected by the people of Birmingham for her Christian spirit and loved by all. Her smiles were an inspiration to many even thru her sufferings before death. She loved the prayers of the church and to hear the word of God which was helpful to her in her last days.
The funeral service was held at the home on Tuesday at 1:45 and at the Methodist church at 2 o'clock, in charge of Rev. Fred Skewes, pastor. The Legion Post of Birmingham acted as pallbearers. A mixed quartet, members of the church choir, sang her favorite church songs, "Asleep in Jesus," "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," and "The Home of the Soul." She was buried in the Maple Hill cemetery.
We wish to thank the kind friends and neighbors for their kindness and sympathy during the sickness and death of our loving wife, mother, daughter and sister. Also we wish to thank the friends for the beautiful flowers also the Legion for acting as pallbearers and for the use of the cars.
H. D. Wentworth,
Mr and Mrs Frank Anderson
