DEATH of WOMAN 100 YEARS of AGE
The funeral service of Mrs. Nancy Kincer was conducted Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at Mt Ephraim church near Crockett. The large crowd attending packed the church and Sunday School rooms to the utmost capacity, with crowded doors and many people in the yard. Rev J. W. Rader of the Wytheville Station, in the absence of her pastor Rev J. R. King. conducted the services. Appropriate songs were sweetly sung by the local choir. Mrs. Kincer was born in Wythe County about one hundred years ago and spent her entire life in this county. She was married to Christopher Kincer who preceded her to the grave about nineteen years. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, South, for a number of years in which she remained faithful until the summons came July twenty-second nineteen sixteen. She had had her usual breakfast at her son, James Kincer, and helped to clear the table. At nine o'clock, as was her custom, she laid down to rest and while asleep she evidently passed away without a struggle. Her eyes were closed in sleep and remained so after death. It had been her prayer for years recent that she should go quietly and quickly so as not to be a burden to the children. This was most motherly. Her large number of descendants together with a wide circle of friends will greatly miss her. Few people ever live, as did she, to see 263 of their own descendants and to pass the one hundredth year of their age. Mrs. Kincer had 14 children, 62 grandchildren, 170 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren. Be it said to her credit and that of her husband that it is a generation of the very best sort of citizens. It speaks potently for Christian parents and proper Christian training of children. Five generations of respected and honored descendants is a heritage rich and very rare. The community, the county, the State and the nation is the better for her having lived. Sweet, silent rest to her weary flesh, peace and prosperity to her genial spirit while to her memory clings the warm affection of children's children to the fifth generation.

Nancy, was a midwife known as Granny Kincer who delivered many babies in the area over the years.
