The family and friends of Margie Durante would like to celebrate her extraordinary life on the occasion of what would have been her nintieth birthday.
Margaret "Margie" (Little) Durante was born September 26, 1919 in Scotch Plains, New Jersey. Crowned Queen of the New Jersey State Fair, she then attended New York University before being hired by the Copacabana in New York City, where she met her dear husband, Jimmy. The couple married at St. Malachy's Church in New York City on December 14, 1960, and were overjoyed with the arrival of their daughter Cecilia "Cece" Alicia on Christmas Day 1961.
Margie enjoyed spending every summer at the Del Mar Racetrack. She also took great pride in watching Cece become a champion horsewoman. She loved her time spent with Cece, her husband Steve and her three beautiful grandchildren Connor, Ryan and Maddie. Margie donated very generously to many charitable organizations, such as St. Jude's Hospital, the Society of Singers, the Society of Dancers, and several other charities, as well as many individuals in need.
Margie passed away this summer at the age of eighty-nine. She resided at 511 North Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills, California at the time of her death.
She was preceded into Heaven by her husband Jimmy, her parents Celia and Samuel Little, sister Isabel Carmenetti, and many friends. Margie is survived by her daughter Cece Durante Bloum, son-in-law Stephen Bloum, grandchildren Connor, Ryan, and Maddie, the Durante Family, dear friends, and all of Beverly Hills, where she had made her home for over half a century.
Funeral Services were held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
