for Forty Years

William C. Adams died at his resi-
dence, 852 North street, at 3 o'clock
this morning after an illness of sev-
eral months, and the end came to him
as a welcome release from suffering
as his affliction was cancer of the
liver. The funeral will be held at
2:30 tomorrow afternoon from the
POresbyterian church, Dr. S. S. Hil-
scher officiating, and interment will
be in the old cemetery.

Mr. Adams was born in Mercer

At the age of ten he went to Indiana
and in 1869 moved to a farm in Car-
lyle township, where he resided for a
number of years. Before coming to
Kansas he was married in Indiana,
his wife dying August 27, 1910. From
Carlyle the family moved southwest
of Iola where they lived five years
and about 1903 they came to Iola,
where they have since made their
home. Mr. Adams was a lifelong mem-
ber of the Presbyterian church.
