He was born in Lydia, Texas, September 27, 1915, but grew up in Owl Creek and Lula Communities. He attended East Central State College and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict. In all, he spent 23 years in the armed forces and was on the police force at Columbus for nine years prior to his death.
