Irish nationalist revolutionary. Member of the Military Council which planned the Easter 1916 Uprising and the first signatory of the Proclamation of the Republic. One of 14 leaders of the uprising to be court-marshalled and executed by firing squad at Kilmainham Jail (a further 75 were condemned but reprieved).
