Jacob was the son of Nathaniel Jewett and Susanna Gooden. He married Mehitable Mitchell 1 July 1762 in Hollis, NH per researcher Jsjewett/2010

Jacob was called Jacob the 3rd to distinguish him from his cousin Jacob Jewett Jr. He answered the Rhode Island Alarm in 1777 and fought at West Point in 1780 for three months during the American Revolution. He probably had a farm somewhere on Jewett Lane.
