The funeral for L. Bernice Pitman Tuggle, 99, Waukomis, who died Friday, January 31, 1992, at the Methodist Home, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Waukomis United Methodist Church. The Rev. John Hauser will officiate. Burial will follow in the Waukomis Cemetery under direction of Brown Funeral Home, Enid.
She was born July 19, 1892, in Casey, Illinois, to Orley and Harriett McDaniel. In 1901, they moved to Waukomis where she grew up and graduated from Waukomis High School. She then went to Colorado springs, Colorado, where she graduated from Brown Business College. In 1919, she married Charles Pitman in Waukomis. He preceded her in death in April of 1949.
In 1954, she married J. G. Tuggle in Waukomis. He preceded her in death in 1965. She was the Waukomis postmaster for 12 years, and the deputy Garfield County assessor for 16 years. She was a member of the Waukomis United Methodist Church for more than 50 years. Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Claire Pitman, Waukomis; three grandchildren, Mike Pitman, Drummond, Tony Pitman, Waukomis, and Kari Delier, Dallas, Texas; two stepdaughters, Bonnie Poe, Italy, Texas and Agatha Tuggle, Italy, Texas; eight grandchildren and one step granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by one son, Charles, on March 5, 1983. Memorial may be made through the funeral home to the Waukomis United Methodist Church or to the charity of one's choice.
