Vergie Edwards Motley, 80, of Rocky Mount, died Saturday, February 5, 1994 at the local hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul E. Motley and a son Carlton E. Motley.
Surviving are five daughters and sons-in-law, Louise and Curtis Washburn, Penhook, Betty and Carl Payne, Jamestown, N.C., Paulette and Alfred Williams, McLeansville, N.C., Joyce and Roger Yates, Kernesville, N.C., Donna and Daniel Mounce, Martinsville; two sons and three daughters-in-law, Virgil and Linda Motley, Salem, Toney and Regina Motley, Glade Hill, Margaret K. Motley, Rocky Mount; 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law and husbands, Nannie and Robert Hawkins, Rocky Mount, Lucy and Clayborne Haynes, Rocky Mount.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday 2 p.m. in Flora Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Berlin Hanks and the Rev. Glenn Voss officiating. Interment will follow in the Motley Family Cemetery. Friends may call at Flora Funeral Service after 3:30 p.m. Sunday where the family will be from 7 to 9 p.m. and at other times at the home of Louise and Curtis Washburn. Flora Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
