Maniza Staton was the daughter of Capt. Fredrick Staton and the wife of James Staton. They were first cousins.
They had eight children. In the 1850's three of them: Marshall, Emmiline, and William, moved west heading toward the Indian territory. They only made it to Little Switzerland and Spruce Pines in the North Carolina Mountain county of Mitchell.
Their descendants are buried all over a several county area.
