Mr. Estes Bernard Bozeman, age 81 of Winnfield, passed away, Friday, March 16, 2007 at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas.

Mr. Bozeman, a native of Winnfield, is the son of the late Harley B. Bozeman and the late Annabel Estes Bozeman.

He is survived by his wife of fifty four years: Mrs. Peggy Brand Bozeman; one son: Thomas Estes Bozeman of Shreveport, four daughters: Patricia Gayle Long of Katy, Texas, Peggy Lea Hemphill of Winnfield, Annabel B. Turk of Katy, Texas and Betty Caroline Bozeman of Houston, Texas; one sister: Helen Gayle Fausett of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and five grandchildren: Michael Long, Steven Long, Geoffrey Hemphill, Stuart Hemphill, and Nadia Turk.

Mr. Bozeman was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winnfield and a graduate of Louisiana Tech University in Ruston. He was U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II.

Mr. Bozeman served as Winn Parish Weather Observer for the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for over 55 years. He was nationally recognized by the U. S. Department of Commerce on numerous occasions, including the John Campanius Holm Award, the Thomas Jefferson Award, and the first person to receive the Edward H. Stoll Award in recognition of 50 years of service. He was a member of the Louisiana Forestry Association for more than 20 years. Mr. Bozeman was a member of the Winnfield Lions Club for 56 years, serving as President in 1968-1969. He was a tree farmer in the LA. Tree Farm Systems.

Funeral services, for Mr. Bozeman, will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Winnfield with Reverend Lindsey Burns officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Winnfield.

Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until time of funeral services.
