Odessa F. Ford Cotrell Ambrister, 82, Lima, Ohio, died Monday, May 8, 2006, at Beverly Healthcare. She was born on June 8, 1923, in Central, South Carolina, and was the daughter of the late M. Lee and Janice "Janie" Tucker Ford. She was raised in Commerce and met her first husband there. She was retired in 1989 as a merchandiser, K-Mart Corp. Westgate and was previously employed as fountain manager at J.J. Newberry Store and Ark of Sweets Candy Store. During World War II she was a teletype operater st Toccoa Falls College in Toccoa.
She attended Faith Bible Institute and graduated as valedicorian with a BA in Theology. She was youth minister and Sunday school teacher at the former Faith Temple Church. She then joined First Assembly of God Church for 15 years. She was a former member of the King and Queens Club and was known by many as "Red" or "Bricky". Mrs Ambrister was preceded in death by her first husband, the Rev. Arthur R. Cotrell, two sons, Harold E. Cotrell and Gilbert Lee Cotrell, and four sisters.
Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Edward H. Ambrister, three sons and daughters-in-law, Arthur R. Cotrell, Jr. and Boots Cotrell, Lima, Ohio, Michael D. Cotrell, Archbold, Ohio, Charles F. and Aida Cotrell, Garden Grove, Calif.; a step-son and spouce, Les and Debe Ambrister, Lima, Ohio; two step-daughters and spouses, Gina D. and Dennis Vondrell, Lima, Ohio, and Gesa J. and Rick Abbott, Heber, Ariz.; 23 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 11, at Lewis Chapel, Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Davis officiating.
