Katherine Maxine Stopp, 76, of Tahlequah passed away Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at Grace Living Center. She was born Sept. 4, 1933, in Seminole, to Louis A. and Mary K. (Wright) Munn.
She and Oscar Stopp were married June 14, 1952, here in Tahlequah at the Methodist Chapel. After they united in marriage, she traveled with her husband to many places during his tour in the U.S. Air Force. They retired in Tahlequah, where Katherine grew up in 1972.
Shortly after settling and enjoying retirement together, Oscar preceded her in death in May of 1975.
Katherine was a member of the First Methodist Church, and was quite involved in her church and the Methodist environment which she was raised in. She worked for some time at Camp Egan, in Welling, and Go Ye Village in the food service departments.In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bingo, doing ceramics and working puzzles. She also enjoyed the time she got to spend with family and friends. She was truly a very loving and unique person that will be missed by all that shared in her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a sister, Betty Ann Jasoh.
She leaves to mourn her passing three daughters, Sharon Skold Owen and husband, Jack, of Wagoner, Marlene Kay Randall of Brandon, Miss., and Donna Jean Kerr and husband, David, of Fort Gibson. Her legacy will live on in her eight grandchildren and numerous great, great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Mrs. Stopp was be held Tuesday, Sept. 29 at Reed-Culver Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, in the Swimmer Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Reed-Culver Funeral Home of Tahlequah.
