Obituary -

ALBION -- Luona (Cookson) Willette 85, of Albion, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, at a Waterville nursing facility.

She was born in Albion on Jan. 21, 1919, the daughter of Silas and Lizzie Mae (Dow) Cookson of Albion. She attended Albion schools, graduating from Besse High School in 1937.

She was predeceased by husband Norman O. Willette Sr., whom she married on Sept. 6, 1937. She was also predeceased by her beloved son Claude Willette; one grandson, William (Billy) Willette; two sisters, Dora Blasidell of Albion and Elsie Wilson of Windsor; and a brother, John Cookson of Albion.

She is survived by her children Norris Willette of Winslow, Lynda Bolduc and husband, Hector, of Albion, Ernest Willette and wife, Carlene, of Fairfield, Elizabeth Whitman and husband, Robert, of Winslow, Jean Nawfel and husband, Kenneth, of China, Norman Willette Jr. and wife, Debra, of Winslow, Lawrence Willette and wife, Candice, of Bainbridge, Ohio, Jerry Willette and wife, Debbie, of Milbury, Mass., and Jon Willette and wife, Sandra, of Freedom. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

She is also survived by her two brothers, Robert Cookson and wife, Gloria, of Brooks, and Mayo Cookson and wife, Edith, of Albion; three sisters, Faye Pottle of Benton, Beverly Webber of Eliot and Shirley Ellis of Oakland; and a sister-in-law, Dot Cookson of Albion.

She was a dedicated mother to all of her children. She enjoyed reading and gardening in her earlier years. She cared for her beloved son, Claude, for 55 years until his passing. She was a hardworking and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be sadly missed by all of her children. Her loving smile and gentle face will always be in our minds and hearts.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 12, at Libby Hill Cemetery in Albion. Condolences may be expressed at
