Luella Lottie Cox, 78, of Powderly, died at 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 1998, in St. Joseph's Hospital and Health Center. Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home will conduct services at 2 p.m. Friday, June 26, at Arthur City Baptist Church with Dr. Wilbur Simmons officiating. Burial will be in Forest Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cox was born July 24, 1919, in Gorman. She spent most of her childhood in Waurika, OK. She married the Rev. James Franklin Cox Sr. March 7, 1942, in Waurika. He died March 21, 1994. She had been a member of Ramseur Baptist Church and attended Arthur City Baptist Church at the time of her death. She was associated with Gray's Cafe for about 25 years until four months ago when ill health caused her retirement.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, James F. Cox Jr. and Jan of Krum and Charles W. and Nancy Cox of Powderly; a daughter-in-law, Toni Dennis of Paris; nine grandchildren and their spouses, James F. Cox III and La Resa of Gainesville, Cindy M. and Michael Bird of Krum, Trixie Williams of Paris, Kimberly Cox of Krum, Brandy Cox of Paris, Katherine Sue Cox of Odessa, and Charles, James M. and Keisha Cox, all of Paris; two great-grandchildren, Tevin Williams and Destiny Turquoise Williams, both of Paris; a sister, Louise Smith of Fort Worth; and three brothers-in-law, Orville Lee Cox and wife Juanell, Marvin Cox and wife Dorothy, all of Duncan, OK, and Martin Lane of Denton. Pallbearers will be Paul Butler, James F. Cox III, Michael Wayne Bird, Stuart Johnson, Keith Johnson and David Grammer.
