Ruth "Curly" Redden Blacklock, 81, of Bryant, passed away September 24, 2009. She was born March 18, 1927, in Little Rock to the late Warren and Marie Redden. Curly graduated from Bauxite High School in 1948 after marrying her childhood sweetheart, Roy Blacklock, on her seventeenth birthday. After Roy returned from service in the Navy, the pair resided in various areas of Saline County before settling in Bryant. Curly worked in the Bryant School District for almost twenty years before retiring. Although her primary job was in the school lunchroom, she worked in other areas, including a year as a school bus driver.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Charles Blacklock; granddaughter, Rhonda Blacklock; brothers, Buck Redden and Jimmy Redden; sisters, Ann Tate, Mary Burks and Willie Bauer.

Survivors are husband, Roy Lemar Blacklock; Bryant, sons, David Blacklock and wife, Judy, Bryant; Joey Blacklock and wife, Dawn, Kansas City, Missouri; daughter, Janice Porter and husband, Randy, Benton; sisters, Fanny Dorian, Benton; Sue Samples, Salem, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Glenn Porter, Michael Blacklock, Thomas Blacklock, Kelton Blacklock, Justin Price and Terry Abels.

Chapel services by Ashby Funeral Home were 2:00 p.m. Monday with Bro. Kim Hammer officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery.
