Alfonse Meyer died August 12, 1996, at his home in Centralia, KS. He was 92 years old.

He was born March 28, 1904, the son of Henry and Kathryn Meyer, in Damme, Oldenburg, Germany, the youngest of eleven children. At the age of 21, he left Germany and settled in the Goff, KS area.

He was a farmer and worked for the township until he moved to Centralia in 1945. He worked on the Nemaha County Road Crew as a road maintenance operator for 30 years. He retired in 1969.

He was marrid to Mary K. Becker on October 4, 1933, at St. Patrick's Church in the Coal Creek community, south of Centralia.

Alfonse was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca, and St. Joseph's Society at the church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home; son, Leo Meyer, Seneca, KS; daughters, Patricia Kirlin, Council Bluffs, IA; Catherine Ward, Onaga, KS; Sharon Fritch, Meriden, KS; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Seneca, KS. Burial was in the Centralia cemetery.
