| Birth: | 1963 Weybridge Surrey, England | | Death: | Sep. 22, 2009 London Greater London, England | Folk Figure. She was the "Lucy" of the Beatles' hit "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds". Lucy was a three year-old nursery school classmate of the then four year-old Julian Lennon. One day in 1966, Julian drew a picture of her and took it home to his parents. John Lennon, who was then at work on the album "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", asked him what it was, and Julian responded, "That's Lucy in the sky with diamonds"! John took the name for a song on the album; it became, and remains, a major hit, though he always denied that it was a veiled reference to LSD. Lucy never particularly liked the song, and lost touch with Julian over the years. However, when Julian heard of Lucy's serious illness, the two reconnected. She died after having lupus for a number of years. (bio by: Bob Hufford)
