Betty Lou Stone Webb
09 September 1928 - 02 August 2012

Betty L. Webb

Betty Lou Webb, age 83, passed away August 2, 2012. She was met in her Heavenly Home by her two precious sons, Jim and Rusty, and a host of other beloved family members who have gone before her.

Betty was born September 9, 1928, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to George and Nona Stone.

She was married to Oral Allen Webb on October 14, 1944, in Kansas City.

Betty and Oral were married for 35 years, and together they raised five sons; Joe Allen Webb and wife Linda of Gadsden AL., Donald Lee Webb and wife Rosemary of Bartlesville, OK., Michael Leon Webb of Joplin, MO., Jimmy Dan Webb who preceded her in death, and Oral "Rusty" Webb who preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by her husband Oral Webb, her parents George and Nona Stone, her brother G.W. Stone, her sister Helen Stone Barber, and a great-granddaughter Natalie Grace Webb.

Surviving Betty are her grandsons; Brian Webb and Nicholas Webb of Gadsden AL., Shawn Webb of Kansas City, Garrett Webb of Kansas City and Brent Webb of Joplin, MO., and Blake Webb of Sapulpa, OK.; one granddaughter, Lesley Webb Worthan of Marshall, OK.; two great-grandsons, Austin Webb and Carter Webb of Gadsden AL.; two great-granddaughters, Melena Webb of Kansas City and Coley Webb of Gadsden, AL. Betty is survived by many other nieces and nephews as well.

Betty was petite in stature but enormous in heart. She was true to her family and friends and generous with her talents. She enjoyed music, dancing, and collecting fine antiques. She doted on her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and when life handed her over-whelming grief, she picked herself up and, somehow, managed to keep going.

She was always immaculate in dress, and her long dark hair was swept off her beautiful face and kept in a perfect chignon at the back of her head.

At a later stage in her life, she began a long and successful career in property management--first as manager of Sommerset Apartments and then as manager of The Plaza Apartments. All of her tenants came to love and respect the tiny woman who could climb three flights of stairs in her four-inch heels.

Betty Lou Webb will be missed terribly by her family and friends, but the memories and love shared will always be in their hearts.

Services will be Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel.

✿ ♥ In Memory of ♥ ✿

✿ ♥ ✿ Betty Lou ✿ ♥ ✿

Betty Lou would have been -- just about a month away -- 84 on her birthday.

BORN on - Sept 9th. - 1928.

She was the DAUGHTER of
George and Nona Stone
(A loving couple who were themselves, wed over 70 years...)

Betty Lou was born in Oklahoma - lived briefly
in Texas but most of her life was in Joplin and
centered around her own household.

She was wed to Oral Allen Webb.
They were Ozarks teenagers - madly in love -
running away to get married. Their romantic
location for their nuptials - under the gigantic
clock in the old Union Train station in downtown Kansas City, Mo. They were married in Oct. 44.

Although the marriage did not last but 30-some years, and other significant people came and went in their respective lives - everyone believed they both loved one another till their last day...

She was the Mother of 5 Webb sons...
Each lad was born with black hair and clear
blue eyes and double, black eyelashes.
They were a handsome brood!

(*NOTE Jimmy's legal name was NOT James
- it was JIMMY)

Betty was sister to:
** BROTHER - G.W. (George Washington) Stone of Richardson, Texas
(He was a famous knife craftsman.)
** SISTER - Helen Stone Barber of Joplin, Mo.
(Sadly, she was killed in an auto accident
while enroute to a cancer treatment.)

Lovingly written by Anonymous.

-- from K. Gibran --

"Then Almitra spoke, saying, "We would ask now of Death."

And he said: You would know the secret of death.

But how shall you find it unless you seek it in the heart of life?

The owl whose night-bound eyes are blind unto the day cannot unveil the mystery of light.

If you would indeed behold the spirit of death, open your heart wide unto the body of life.

For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one.

In the depth of your hopes and desires lies your silent knowledge of the beyond;

And like seeds dreaming beneath the snow your heart dreams of spring.

Trust the dreams, for in them is hidden the gate to eternity..."
