Memorial services for Earl A. Stockburger, 80, of Temple will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at Bethel Assembly of God with the Rev. Elwyn Johnston officiating.
Private burial will be in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with military honors.
Mr. Stockburger died Thursday, Sept. 24, at his home.
He was born on Dec. 14, 1928, to Lloyd G. and Ossie Gertrude Brown Stockburger in West Fork, Ark. He was raised and educated in West Fork. He served in the U.S. Navy, 1946-1954, on the Pacific islands of Hawaii, Guam, and in Saigon. During the Korean War he was stationed on the destroyer USS Nicholas. He married Betty Rose Wallander on Oct. 15, 1954, in Maywood, Calif. While in California he worked as a machinist for Hughes Aircraft and McDonald Douglas Aircraft. He attended Barber College and went to work for the U.S. Postal Service. In 1968, they moved to Vista, Calif., where he was a letter carrier until his retirement in 1986. They moved to Temple in 2003.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years; three sons, Wayne Stockburger of Troy, Lloyd Stockburger of Denver and Mark Stockburger of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Juanita Harris of Vista, Calif.; two brothers, Eddie and Eric Stockburger, both of Fayetteville, Ark.; a sister, Tanya Pearson of Fort Smith, Ark.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. today at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple
