Wife of 1) Conrad Jarvis Miller, m. 1876, & 2) Joseph Heldenmaier, m. Jan 7, 1890.

Sophia Poehlman was born in Philadelphia September 14, 1856, and departed this life at her home in Atlanta about 6 a.m. December 16, 1938, at the age of 82 years, 3 months and 2 days. With her parents she moved from Philadelphia to Peoria, Illinois, in 1858, later locating at Washington, Illinois. She was united in marriage to Mr. C.J. Miller in 1876. To this union five children were born. In 1884 the Miller family moved to Kansas. Then in 1889 Mrs. Miller came to Nebraska and lived with her brother, Mr. Fred Poehlman, near Mascot. In 1890 Mrs. Miller was united in marriage to Joseph Heldenmaier. They lived on their farm southwest of Atlanta until 1908 then moved to Atlanta where she has since resided. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Henry and Fred Miller; 10 grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchildren; three brothers; one sister; other relatives, and a host of friends. Three children, John, Maggie and Bennie; one brother and two sisters preceded her in death. She was confirmed in the German Lutheran church at an early age. After coming to Nebraska she joined the Evangelical church at Mascot. Since 1914 she has been a very faithful member of the Methodist church in Atlanta. Funeral services were conducted from the home at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon and later from the Atlanta M.E. church with the pastor, Rev. Bruce Eshelman, in charge. Rev. H.A. James of Franklin, a former pastor, preached the sermon. Music was furnished by a mixed quartet consisting of Mrs. A.J. Polhemus, Mrs. O.V. Fitch, R.L. Cobb and Ed Pickering, with Mrs. Harley Brockett at the piano. They sang "In the Garden," "Old Rugged Cross" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." The floral tributes were beautiful. The pallbearers were six grandsons, Max, Lee, Jarvis, Alvan, Merlin and Dean Miller. Burial was made in the Oxford cemetery. The services were largely attended.
