MRS OLA HODGES, COUNTY TREASURER, TAKEN BY DEATH

Mrs Ola Hodges, 55, County Treasurer, died at the Medical Arts Hospital in Brownwood Saturday afternoon, May 26 at 1:20 o'clock. Funeral rites for Mrs Hodges were held the First Baptist Church in Comanche Sunday Afternoon with rev R. M. McGinnis in charge, assisted by the Pastor, Rev Authur Johnson. Internment was in the Oakwood Cemetery.

Pall bears were Mrs Hodges nephews, Jake Garham, Bob Franks, Billy Jones, Walace Dingus, Windall Day and Dow Steward. Singers were Mrs hazel Stresty, Mrs Maudie Creek, Claud Ross, Virgil Norris, and Mrs Lillian Hafford, Organist.

Mrs Hodges was nominated County Treasurer in last July's primary election and was elected to office in November's General Election. She took office January 1, and had served approximately five months.

Mrs Hodges who was Ola Mae Dingus before her marriage, was born in Comanche County April 7, 1896. She was the daughter of the late D.C. Dingus and Mrs Linnie Dingus. She attended rural schools in Comanche County and was graduated from Comanche High School. For a number of years she was a book-keeper for the Slider-Lacy Department Store here and later became a beauty operator. In 1924 she was converted and united with the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.

On Oct 12, 1921 she was married to Isaac Prentis "Print" Hodges, a successful farmer and Dairyman. Mr Hodges passed away August 31, 1945.

Mrs Hodges is survived by two sons, Jake David and Paul Hodges of Little River, by her mother, Mrs D.C. Dingus of Comanche; and the following brothers and sisters, Clyde Dingus of Coleman, Wayne Dingus of Gilmer, Mrs R.L. Couch of Gustine, Mrs Harvey K. Smith of Wichita, Kansas, Mrs Jerl Doggett of Breckenridge and Jack Dingus of California; Three grand children, David Hodges and Twins, Gene and Jane Hodges of Little River. All members of the immediate family were present except her brother Jack Dingus.
