Mr. Ballard was born April 15, 1938, in Estill County, the son of the late Taylor and Callie Wiseman Ballard. He was a retired supervisor for the city of Kettering, Ohio, and was a member of the Lexington Road Church of God.
Survivors include: his wife, Jill Ballard; one daughter, Donna Wray (Ernie) of Brassfield; three brothers, Artie Ballard (Margie) and Morris Ballard (Ruth), both of Richmond and James Ballard (Dianne) of Orlando, Fla.; two grandchildren, Michael and Jessica Hearld; three stepgrandchildren, Aaron, Jason and Brian Wray; two special great-nieces, Kristin and Kelli Ballard; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: four brothers, Edgar, Johnny, Fred and Richard Ballard; and two sisters, Helen Ballard and Mary Mills.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, August 11, 2008, with the Rev. Phillip Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Mickey Lutes, Ernie Wray, Morris Ballard Jr., Darrell Osborne, Harlan Wilson, Jamie Stanley, Earl Stanley and Isaac Stanley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Combs, Parrish Johnson, R.J. Spivey, James Moses, Kevin Huntzinger and Don Leigh.
