James William McCloskey, a resident of this city for many years, died at Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital, March 20, after an illness of several days.
Mr. McCloskey was born in Shelby County, Mo. on October 30, 1876, the son of John and Mary McCloskey. He moved to Caruthersville in 19?? and for several years was a cashier for the old Citizens Trust Company. For over 30 years he had been employed as office manager for J.R. Hutchison and was active up to the time of his illness.
He was a member of the Caruthersville lodge and A.F.&A.M. and of the Scottish Rite. He also was a member of First Christian Church and served as Sunday School superintendent for over 40 years.
In this city, on April 7, 1925, he was married to Miss Edith Hart, who survives him.
He also leaves a daughter, Mrs. Amy Nell LaForge and three grandchildren of Lompoc, Calif.; and two sisters, Mrs. Nell Butler of Hannibal, Mo. and Mrs. Kittie Boothe of Huntington Park, Calif.
Services were held at the Christian Church Monday afternoon with the Rev. Joe Ben Rhodes and Rev. Howard Ray officiating. Burial was in Little Prairie Cemetery with H.S. Smith Funeral Home service.
