|Birth: ||May 14, 1856|
North Carolina, USA
|Death: ||Feb. 24, 1911|
Son of George Kidd and Mary McCaleb. Eldest brother Demarcus Lafayette 1831, buried in Tyrone, TX Co, MO. Brothers: Tandy 1837, Thomas 1833, and Robert 1839. All, including father, George, were Civil War Soldiers, some Union, some Confederate, depending on which State they lived. Sisters; Elizabeth 1835, Lucinda 1840, Minerva 1843, Martha 1845. Newton, as told to me by his granddaughter, Bess J Kidd Jacobson, drove an ammunitions wagon for the North. Newton does not have a military record as he was about 14 yrs of age when he drove this wagon. Demarcus was a POW at Elmyra, NY for the duration of the War. Tandy was in the battle of Vicksburg, when he caught 'consumption" and later died at a young age of such. Whereabouts of brother's graves unknown. Father, George, is buried at Camp Nelson, KY in a Nat'l Cemetery for Union Soldiers.
Death certificate shows Newton died of TB. Last address being 2726 Sixth St, Louisville, KY. He was living with his son, Wm S Kidd. There are two errors on his death certificate: he is listed as Newton "T" Kidd and age at death is listed as "5 yrs old". Infomant was my great-grandfather, his oldest son, Wm Kidd.
