Cecil Wilbur Book, 80, of Caruthersville, died June 24, 1989 at Pemiscot Memorial Hospital. Born Dec. 14, 1989(1908) in Malden, he was the son of the late Jefferson Roark and Althea Mae Gaines Book. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, belonged to Caruthersville Masonic Lodge Number 461 and was a former 18-year veteran member of the Caruthersville City Council. He was also a former volunteer fireman.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Catherine Book of Caruthersville; Two sons, Bob J. Book of Tucker, Ga. and Jim Book of Harrison, Tenn.; One brother, Kenneth Book of Orange, Texas; One sister, Gwendolyn Whittlesey of Houston, Texas; And four grandchildren.
Services were June 26 at 2:30 p.m. at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home chapel in Caruthersville, the Rev. Paul Currie officiating, with burial in Little Prairie Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Carl Rushing, Terry Rushing, Lloyd Daughhetee, Doug Dudley, James Long and Clay Conner.
