Harry Hamby, 68, father of Harold Hamby of this city, died in Blytheville, Friday, August 10, after suffering a heart attack about ten days before. Mr. Hamby was an engineer of the Frisco "Moose" from Blytheville to Jonesboro until the run was discontinued.
Mr. Hamby retired in September 1950, after forty years of railroading. He had been engineering on the Blytheville-Jonesboro run for nine years when it was discontunued May 9, 1949. He was the oldest man in point of service in the Valley Division of the St. Louis, San Francisco Railroad.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Hamby; four sons, Harold Hamby of Caruthersville, Joe N. Hamby of Blytheville, Bill Hamby of Kennett, Mo. and Jesse Hamby of Tyler, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. L.M. Burns of Farmington, Mo. and eleven grandchildren.
Services were conducted at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Blytheville Saturday at 9 a.m., with the Rev. Father Amos Enderling officiating. Burial was in Little Prairie, this city.
