John Edwin "Ed" Dennis, son of Robert William Dennis and Flory Gertrude Cortright.
The Dennis family originated in England and Ireland. They were Quakers who most likely got kicked out of every country they tried to settle in because of their faith. They were travelers, starting in Massachusetts to New Jersey to Pennsylvania and west to Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, and Kansas.
He loved to fish, travel, and tell stories.
Grandad was a farmer. He also worked at Penberthy foundry. We believe that is when he developed black lung which eventually took his life.
When we were little we were always told to eat our veggies because he grew them for Green Giant.
One time he decided to plant Christmas trees. Well, I guess he didn't have the heart to chop too many down because he ended up with acres and acres of a large forest.
He also collected things. During a story telling session he would go out to the barn or garage and bring back a Model T gas lamp or an old bridle and bit.
It as always a joy to spend time with him. We could never be bored because he would find something for us to do.
