Written by Mr. Aubrey for the Community Hospital Bulletin, November, 1952. MEMBER FAMILY OF THE MONTH
To tell their story we will reprint Mr. Aubrey's own account of his life… I was born in Cooke County, Texas near Dester (in his obituary, birthplace is different) January 16, 1881.

"At the age of nine years I moved with my parents to near Bonita, Montague County, Texas and at the age of 17 I went to the Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory, where later I met a red-head by the name of Lillie Mae Talkington. We were married October 05, 1902, at Atoka, Indian Territory. I still have my license."

"My wife was born in Washington County, Arkansas, near the Boston Mountains and at the age of six years, she moved with her parents to old Greer County, south of Mangum, where they homesteaded. When three droughts ran them out, they moved to the Choctaw Nation where I met her."

"We lived one year at Mena, Arkansas, then several years at Denison, Texas, where I worked for the railroad. We lived in Sulphur, Oklahoma and near there for 10 years, farming, and where weevils destroyed my cotton crops. Then we moved to Altus where the grasshoppers ate the crops."
"We moved to Roger Mills County, February 01, 1926. We made a huge cotton crop, but prices were too low to make much profit."

"My companion has been a wonderful wife and mother. We have had nine children, three boys and six girls. Two girls and one son have passed on. We have 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Our children are: Mrs. Lula Cooley, Stockton, California, C.B. Aubrey, Jr., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Mrs. Ninnie Rorabaugh, Borger, Texas, Mrs. Lois Strickland, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; John Allen Aubrey, San Antonio, Texas; Mrs. Bonnie Blackmon, Fritch, Texas."

"I want to congratulate Dr. Shadid, founder of Community Hospital, also his sons, Dr. Fred and Dr. Alex, as well as the entire personnel of the Clinic and Hospital."

These fine people celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on October 5th of this year. We are proud to have them among our families and wish them both the best of health, success and happiness in the years to come.
