Richard C. "Slim" Warner, Sr., age 83 of Manteno, IL, formerly of Dolton, IL, passed away September 14, 2009 at home.
He is survived by his wife, Elinor; two sons: Richard (Donna) Warner and Gerald (Constance) Warner both of Lynwood, IL; three daughters: Gladys (Joseph) Bisso of Hammond, IN, Gail (David) Ladislas of Manteno, IL, Patricia (Robert) Dodd of Manteno, IL and Cynthia (Ross) Jansma of Mokena, IL; 17 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his granddaughter, Lisa Marie Ladislas. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 18, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 21 N. Main Street, Manteno, IL with Rev. Harvey Gaither officiating.
Burial at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. Visitation Friday from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled Veterans.
Mr. Warner was a retired Engineer from Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad after 43 years of service. He was an ex-POW in the U.S. Navy Air Corps during WWII. Richard was a member of the Manteno United Methodist Church and the Good Sam Camping Club.
