Called to Rest
Mrs. Mary Baker, beloved wife of Albert D. Baker, who passed away at the hospital in Salida on June 15, 1922, was born in Rosita, Colo., August 6, 1884.
With the exception of four years spent with relatives in Baltimore, Md., the deceased spent her entire life in Custer county where her amiable disposition won for her the high esteem and regard of all acquaintances. As wife she was devoted; as parent fond. She will be missed not only by the relatives but by a wide circle of friends as well.
Mrs. Baker was taken to the hospital in Salida a few weeks ago in the hope that surgical treatment would relieve her suffering. For a time she seemed improved and was cheerful. Although her condition was serious, hope was held out for her recovery until the sudden change for the worse on the evening of her death came.
Besides the husband and three small boys there are surviving to mourn her absence her father and mother, Mr. And Mrs. J. T. Williams, here, and three brothers and five sisters - Arthur Williams residing in Silver Cliff, Azor Williams at Aneheim, Cali., Mrs. W. H. Traylor and Mrs. Harry Fuller in Denver, Mrs. Frank Swasnick in West Plains, Colo., Miss Henrietta Williams in Raton,N. M., and John and Miss Nora Williams still under the parental roof.
The funeral, largely attended, was held from the Wlliams home here at 10 a.m. last Sunday, the service being conducted by Rev. Pennington of Silver Cliff. The remains were then followed to the Rosita cemetery where the last sad rites were witnessed.
The following old-time citizens acted as pall bearers: E. C. Vahldick, C. D. Schneider, Joseph Kiesler, H. E. Schwann, Max Garnier, Harvey Belisle.
