Stewart H. Merrill, 38, treasurer of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, Local 1,641, for the last seven years, died this morning at 9 in Faxton Hospital after an illness of
He had been employed as brakeman by the New York Central Railroad for nearly 20 years but had to retire because of a heart condition. Since then he had been special representative of the Massachusetts Protective Life Insurance Company of Rochester.
Mr. Merrill was born in Utica, August 13, 1898, a son of Belle Teauseau and the late George B. Merrill. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and Liberty Lodge 959,
F&AM, also the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. One June 20, 1932, he married Bernadette LeClair of Tupper Lake, who survives. He also leaves his mother and a sister, H. Ruth Merrill, both of Syracuse.
