his father, JAMES ALEXANDER GILMOUR and uncle, JOHN THOMAS GILMOUR, both blacksmiths decided to moved their families from the damp climate of central Oregon to a to the town of Ellensburg in the Yakima Valley on the eastern slope of the Cascade mountain of central Washington Territory where there was plenty of sunshine.
GUY GILMOUR lived in Ellensburg until about 1887 and then moved to Okanogan County to pursue mining along with his father. He met his future spouse there, EDNA PERRY and they were married on 22 November 1893. They settled in Oroville and raised four children. He died there on 15 August 1954 and was buried in the Riverview Cemetery on 19 August 1954.
