On August 6, 1884 she was married to Thos. L. Hitchcock, and to this union 10 children were born, four dying in infancy.
She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, two sons, Leon and Carl of Kansas City, Mo.; four daughters, Myrtle Leonard of Wheaton, Ill; Ethel Johnson, Kennard, Nebr.; Pauline Wilkerson, Blair, Nebr.; and Fern at home. She also leaves one brother, C. O. Hurd of Omaha, Nebr., and one sister, Grace Jones of Chicago, Ill., 19 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She united with the Baptist church in 1894.
The funeral services were held last Monday at one o'clock at the home on Lincoln street and at two o'clock from the Campbell mortuary and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.
The pallbearers were Earl and Laurel Hitchcock and Russel Johnson, grandsons of the deceased, Earl and Harold Hurd, great nephews and Leonard Miller, a friend of the family.
The out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Leon Hitchcock and daughter, Elizabeth, Mrs. Edna Hackenberg, Mrs. Cleo Carter, Mrs. Dorothy Hall, Laurel Hitchcock, Mrs. C. P. Hitchcock and son, Earl and Mrs. Mary Beckart and son, Garland, all of Kansas City, Missouri; Mr. and Mrs. C.O. Hurd, Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Hurd and family, Mr. and Mrs. William Beales, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Spring and Stewart Hurd all of Omaha.
Thus passes another pioneer settler coming here in infancy when the state and county were new; she grew up with the country and knew its history as but few know who are left.
