CLINTON -- Cecil Sanford Lamb, 85, of Clinton, formerly of Farmer City, passed away at 2:15 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 12, 2009) at his residence.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City, with Bishop Rick J. Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Greenleaf Cemetery, Farmer City, with military rites accorded. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Joe Williams Post 55 American Legion, Farmer City, or Fred G. O'Malley Post 6190 V.F.W., Farmer City.
Cecil was born Jan. 29, 1924, in DeWitt County, a son of Jerry and Bessie Turpin Lamb. He married Mary Helen Bates on April 6, 1947, at the home of her parents in Farmer City. He later married Lola Christine Meece on June 28, 1953, in Farmer City. His last marriage was to Priscilla Irene Honecker on Jan. 6, 1995, in Clinton.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Lamb of Clinton; two sons, Beecher D. (Pat) Lamb of White Bluff, Tenn., and William Lamb of White Bluff, Tenn.; four daughters, Vicki Bauder of Apache Junction, Ariz.; Lori (Marty) LaPage of the state of Maryland; Kimberly (Brian) Beachy of Tuscola; and Christina Lamb of Farmer City; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two stepsons, Kenneth (Connie) Honecker of Bement, and Michael (Jennifer) Honecker of Allerton; two stepdaughters, Patty (Joel) Glenn of Heber Springs, Ark., and Elaine (Jeff) Gibson of Decatur; 12 step grandchildren; 18 step great-grandchildren; one sister, Erma Bell of Clinton; and a close family friend, Paula Kennedy of Blue Mound.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one step great-grandson, five brothers and six sisters.
Cecil had been a building service worker at Illinois State University, Normal, for 31 years, retiring June 1, 2002. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Cecil was a life member of Joe Williams Post 55 American Legion, Farmer City, and a life member of Fred G. O'Malley Post 6190 V.F.W., Farmer City.
