Ruth Vanderlinden, 96, of Centerville died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at the Golden Age Care Center. She was born Sept. 4, 1905, in Bloomfield, the daughter of Thomas and Charlotte (Bullis) Beggs. She married Cornelius Vanderlinden Dec. 27, 1926 in Ottumwa. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Willard "Bill" Vanderlinden and his wife, Marilyn, of Centerville; a daughter, Charlotte Hysell and her husband, Elmer, of Colfax; a brother, Paul Beggs of Burkburnett, Texas; a sister, LaRetta Horn of Bloomfield; 15 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughters JoAnn Vanderlinden and Jean Heitink; a brother, Howard Beggs; a sister, Rose Schlar¬baum; and two grandchildren. She graduated from the Troy Community Schools in Troy and later received a teaching certificate. She taught school in the Stober Springs School in Davis County for a couple of years. She was also a homemaker and a member of the Sunny Slope Church of Christ near Promise City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Thursday, at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with Harold Mitchell officiating, Burial will follow in Confidence Cemetery in Confidence. Memorials may be given to Sunny Slope Church of Christ and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
