Evelyn Jean Gassaway, 72, died Sunday, June 9, in Auburn.Ms. Gassaway was born Jan. 8, 1930, in Grass Valley to Clarence and Gladys Weeks Gassaway. She was raised on a ranch in Nevada County and attended and graduated from a one-room schoolhouse in rural Auburn. MRS LEVELL WALLACE IS A GUEST OF HONOR
A miscellaneous shower was given last Saturday afternoon at Mrs. Robert Scott's residence in Long Valley for Mrs. John Wallace, nee Levell Threlkel. As Eva Grace Smith played the wedding march, the bride was led to the seat of honor by two small girls, Betty Jean Fogarty and Evelyn Gassoway. Miss Betty presented the bride with a lovely corsage and then the girls brought in the gifts which were many, both useful and ornamental. Later refreshments were served at small tables and the bride cut a large decorated wedding cake.
