MRS. M. E. GARRETT
Miss Mary E. Rutherford was born in Olney, Illinois, April 23, 1843; died Feb. 7, 1907, age 63 years, 9 months and 15 days.
She was married to John H. Knost June 1860. To them were born eight children, only 3 are living: Oliver Knost of Wright County, Mo., Mrs. Eva Schuenermann and Mrs. Rose Greenewright, both of St. Louis.
Mr. Knost died in 1875, leaving her a widow at the age of 32 years.
In March 1879 she was married to William Garrett and was a mother to Mr. Garrett's three children, by former marriage. They were R. W. Garrett of Pacific, Harry Garrett of Seattle, Washington, and Mrs. Henson of Carthage, Mo.
To Mr. and Mrs. Garrett were born three daughters: Miss Bessie Garrett, Mrs. Jennie Parrott of Pacific and Miss Nellie Garrett of St. Louis.
Mr. and Mrs. Garrett moved from Olney, Ill., to Pacific in 1879 and have lived in and near Pacific, nearly 28 years.
Mrs. Garrett embraced and united with the M. E. church at Clay City, Ill., in her early married life.
After having been in Pacific some time she united with the M. E. church here, while Rev. A. D. Ball was pastor, and remained an honored member of same until the Lord saw to call her from her labor to reward. She was a good Christian, a faithful wife, a devoted mother and an obliging neighbor.
She leaves a husband, six children, three step-children, 16 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of friends to mourn her loss.
Funeral service conducted in the M. E. church at Pacific Saturday p.m., by Revs. James, Pare and Sefton. Burial at public cemetery.
