DiAnn S. Harris, passed away, September 10, 2009 in Holdrege, Nebraska. DiAnn was born on March 26, 1944 in Broken Bow, Nebraska, the only child of Richard L. and Lila Ann (Simmons) Simonson. DiAnn received her education at Holdrege, graduating at Holdrege High School class of 1962. She then pursued higher education attending Nebraska Wesleyan College at Lincoln, Nebraska, the University of Hawaii and Kearney State College in Kearney, Nebraska.
On August 1, 1965, she was united in marriage to Robert E. Harris, Sr. and to this union one son was born, Robert E. "Skip" Harris, Jr. In 1968, DiAnn was involved in a serious automobile accident, where she sustained major injuries. Her son, Skip was born five months later. DiAnn's injuries left her paralyzed, yet she continued to be an inspiration to all her family and friends.
DiAnn and Skip made their home with DiAnn's parents in Holdrege. After her parents passed away, her long time friend and caregiver, Angie Naiman provided in-home care for DiAnn. In 1995, DiAnn began providing on-call phone services for the Nelson-Harris Funeral Home. She continued her employment with the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home until the time of her death.
DiAnn enjoyed reading and needlework. She was a member of the Grace Fellowship Church in Kearney and enjoyed the friendship bonds formed in the Pearls of Industry Investment Club in Holdrege.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
DiAnn leaves to mourn her passing her son, Robert "Skip" Harris, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer of Plano, Texas and granddaughter, Kate Madison Harris of Plano; her long time friend and caregiver, Angie Naiman of Holdrege; and numerous other friends and relatives.
