Willard M. "Red" Herberg, 89, of Arlington, died Sept. 9, 2009.

Born Jan. 28, 1920 in Wildrose, N.D., he was the son of Peter A. and Martha Borstad Herberg, both deceased. He married Helen Louise Nelson Stout Feb. 7, 1947; she preceded him in death Jan 26, 2001.

Mr. Herberg was a retired truck driver for International Furniture Company where he worked for 21 years. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. Memberships include VFW #1541; American Legion Post 150; Eagles Lodge #2036; Elks Lodge #1307; Carthage Masonic Lodge #580 F.&A.M. Scottish Rite; and Murat Shrine of Indianapolis; 40-ET8 Voiture 1040 of Connersville; Teamsters Local 135 (life member).

Survivors include daughter-in-law, Louise Stout Newton of Rushville; four grandchildren, Barbara (Dennis) Ellis of Rushville, Anita Hornaday of Rushville, Connie (Jim) Smith of Spiceland and Melvin Stout of Arlington; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Todd Funeral Home in Rushville with Pastor Larry Callahan officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Arlington East Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
