Charles S. Anderson, 79, of Strasburg, died at 11:55 a.m. Saturday (Jan 29, 1994) in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Lockart and Sons Funeral Home, Cowden, with visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Cowden.
He was born June 8, 1914, in Ramsey, the son of William A. and Linnie Hipkins Anderson. He married Mary M. Dunaway Sept. 13, 1934.
Surviving are his wife; sons, Roger of Sigel, Van of Arcola, Ted of LaPorte, Colo., James of Mattoon and Dana of Stewardson; daughters, Linda Shaw of Hot Springs, Ark. and Karen Anderson of Decatur; brothers, Van of Rancho Cordova, Calif. and Robert of Carmel, Ind.; sisters, Helen Larkin of Oceanside, Calif., Lois Jones of Beecher City, Nellie Keller of Shelbyville, Irma Sarver of Cowden and Betty Riley of Victorville, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Carol; one great-granddaughter, Katie; one brother, William Jr.; and one sister, Dorothy, preceded him in death.
Mr. Anderson was a retired engineer for the Penn Central Railroad and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post #611 in Stewardson, VFW Post #4829 in Shelbyville, United Transportation Union and the USLST Association.
