Preston Wisely, 69, died Monday, July 7, 1997, at the family farm in Sumner, Texas.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday at South Hills Baptist Church. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth.

Preston Fuller Wisely was born Sept. 25, 1927, in Sumner to Lee Roy & Ola Ann Floyd Wisely. He was a 1944 graduate of Paris High School, served in the U.S. Army as a dental laboratory technician, received an Associates Degree from Paris Junior College and a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of North Texas.

He worked for General Dynamics Corporation (now Lockheed) for 39 years. He participated in the production of the B-36 and B-58 bombers, as well as the F-111 and F-16 fighter aircraft. He traveled extensively, coordinating materials and processes with F-16 co-producers in Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Germany, Israel and Turkey. He retired in 1990 as the Chief of Chemical Materials and Process Control.

He was a member of South Hills Baptist Church, a block captain of the local Crime Watch and a participant in Citizens on Patrol "Code Blue". He enjoyed playing golf, bowling and spending time with his family.

Survivors: Wife of 39 years, Mamie; daughter, Melissa; son and daughter-in-law, James and Brenda; sister and brother-in-law, Gayle and Morris Dicken; grandson, Landon Wisely; granddaughter, Kristen Davis; aunt, Evelyn Scott; uncle, Lloyd Wisely; cousins, Annalene Waggoner, Gloria Lassiter, Jo Ann Fagala, Lacrecia Risinger, Judy Bryan and Deborah Brewington; and many nieces and nephews.
