Obituary: "The North Branch Gazette", North Branch, Lapeer County, Michigan, Fri., Mar. 26, 1937, pg 1, col. 6 "Former Township Resident Dies at Harrison Home. Mrs. E. E. Hodges, formerly Miss May Butterfield, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ira Butterfield, died at her home at Harrison, Michigan, on Thursday, March 18, of a cancerous affliction. She leaves her husband Ernest E. Hodges, four sons and four daughters; two sisters, Mrs. Milo Fitch of Marlette, Mrs. Cyrus Barrett of North Branch township; two brothers, Harry Butterfield of Detroit, and Frank Butterfield of Smiths' Creek, also many friends of this vicinity.
Funeral and burial services were held Sunday at Beaverton, Michigan. Deceased, who died at the age of 50 years, was born in North Branch township on Dec. 27, 1886, and grew to womanhood in this community, residing here until a few years after her marriage."
