Elizabeth was the second of nine children born to Gabe F. Keath and his second wife, Nancy M. Hillis. At age seven she moved with her parents from Indiana to Ash Grove Township in Iroquois County, Illinois. She married J. Wes Moore on September 22, 1861 in Cissna Park (Iroquois County), Illinois. They had twelve children; six sons and six daughters.
OBITUARY NOTICE: Iroquois Times; Watseka, Illinois. Article dated April 1922. Excerpt " ... She was united in marriage to John Wesley Moore, of Belmont twp. Sept. 22nd, 1861, continuing to reside in Iroquois County for a period of more than ten years (should state 9 years) after the demise of her husband, which occurred Nov. 30th, 1892 at Woodland, Illinois. ... She was a faithful wife, a devoted mother, a consistent Christian and a good neighbor, giving unselfishly of her time and services where needed. Besides a large circle of sorrowing friends, she leaves to mourn her loss a sister, Mrs. Ella Williams, of Watseka, Ill., four brothers, Henry C. Keath, Bain, Minnesota, Charles F. Keath, Aitkin, Minnesota, George L. Keath, Watseka, Ill. and H. D. Keath, Britton, S. D. The surviving children are Jesse Wirt, Hoopeston, Ill., Gabriel Ross, Pine Village, Ind., John H. Springbrook, Wis., Eber Wilford, Chicago, Ill., Mrs D. Q. Hanes, Papineau, Ill., Mrs. Letta Rosenberger, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Mrs. Ruby Ingles and Mrs. Bert Parker, both of Minneapolis, ... ."
FAMILY NOTE: Eva Irene (nee Hanes) Pierce statements to Corky Logan for school ancestral research project in October 1961. Elizabeth was Irene's grandmother. "... The annual Moore-Hanes family reunion was held on the second Sunday in August, to honor her birthday. The reunion first began with a birthday party for John's father, Jesse Moore in 1888. Grandma Moore grew Some of the best vegetables in the county. She also made Scot candy for us kids. She had gorgeous flower beds, her petunias and roses were beyond compare. ..."
