Effie May Miller Utech served as a Nurse in the United States Army Nurse Corps during World War I.
MRS. UTECH, 72, DIES OF STROKE
Mrs. Effie Utech, 72, widow of Herbert C. Utech, 452 1/2 West Middle Street, died Sunday evening at 7:17 o'clock at the Warner Hospital where she had been admitted Sunday morning after suffering a stroke. Her husband died in 1947.
She was born in Williamsport and had resided here since 1941. She was a daughter of the late George F. and Helen Elizabeth (Kramer) Miller.
Mrs. Utech was a graduate nurse of the Reading Hospital and was an Army nurse in World War I. She was a member of Edith Cavell Nursing Post 596, Harrisburg, Memorial EUB Church, Private Duty Nurses' Association and was active in the local Arts and Crafts Guild.
Surviving are a son, Eugene F. Utech, Carlisle; two grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Stella J. Alston, Cogan Station, Pa.
Funeral services Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Bender Funeral Home with her pastor, Rev. Donald Harper, and Rev. Harold March, former pastor of the Memorial EUB Church, officiating. Interment in the Gettysburg National Cemetery with military rites.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 7 to 9.
