Thomas S. Wood Jr.
Thomas Steele Wood Jr., 78, died Jan. 23 at his residence.
He was a native of Savannah and was a member of Trinity Chapel United Methodist Church at Tybee Island. He was retired from Thomas S. Wood and Co., Plastering Contractors and Tybee Island Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Landrum Lodge, No. 48 F&AM for more than 50 years, Scottish Rite, Alee Temple and Tybee Lite Shrine Club. He was one of the founders of Marine Rescue Squadron 1A of America. He served in the Army during World War II and received the Bronze Star Medal.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Margaret Boyd Wood of Tybee Island; a daughter, Barbara W. Robinson of Charleston; a sister, Margaret E. Wood of Savannah; two brothers, Gilbert G. and Frederick Wood, both of Savannah; a granddaughter, Stacy Strickland of Savannah; two grandsons, Robert Thomas Roach of Savannah and Ronald W. Robinson of Woodbridge, Va.; several nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: 5-8 p.m. today at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
FUNERAL: 2 p.m. Monday at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel, burial in Hillcrest Abbey.
