Clarence N. "Clancy" Fullerton, 76, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday afternoon, in St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, following an extended illness. Clancy was born in Sheldon, Missouri, and as a young boy moved with his family to Bolivar, Missouri. He graduated from Bolivar High School in 1951. Clancy attended Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth, Texas, and then entered the Army, serving in the Korean Conflict. Following military service, Clancy returned to Springfield, Missouri, and attended Southwest Missouri University. He was employed by Campbell 66 Express Inc. for 30 years, serving in several positions, including cargo claims manager. He later was a claims examiner with FreightCor and for 10 years was in cargo claims department with Yellow Freight in Overland Park, Kansas. For the past several years he provided cargo inspection services for Carriers Inspection Services of Overland Park, Kansas. He was an active member of University Heights Baptist Church, where he sang with the Chancel Choir and was a member of Searchers Sunday School Class. Clancy also served as choir director for Schweitzer United Methodist Church from October, 1960, until 1973. Clancy and Dorothy Margaret Jones were united in marriage on December 29, 1957. To this union one son was born. They were privileged to share over 51 years together. He was preceded in death by his parents, William F. and Mary Amanda Watters Fullerton; one brother, Tom Barbato (FAG #22978886); one sister, Dorothy Rookstool (FAG#22979967); and parents-in-law, Roy and Reba Underwood Jones. He is survived by his loving family, his wife, Dorothy Margaret "Dottie" of the home; son Brent A. and wife, Nicole Fullerton of Springfield, Mo.; two sisters, Doris Ware of Branson, Mo., and Jeane and husband, Larry Skyles of Hollister, Mo.; and four nephews, one niece, and several grand-nephews and nieces. Services will be held Saturday, September 5, 2009, at 11 a.m., in University Heights Baptist Church, with Drs. Danny Chisholm and Harlan Spurgeon officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon, in Akard Cemetery, Fair Play, Mo. Military honors will be provided under the auspices of the Missouri Military Honors "Bravo" Team. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Wilson-Brim-Daniel Funeral Home, Ash Grove. The family will receive friends between 10 and 10:45 a.m., in the church, prior to services. The casket will be closed at the beginning of services. Memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society Mid-America Chapter, 6811 W. 63rd Street, Suite 202, Shawnee Mission, KS 66202.
