Clara Mae Hatcher Dozier, age 81, of Beckley died peacefully Sept. 2, 2009, at the Life Path Hospice House in Tampa, FL. Born November 17, 1927, she was the daughter of Bettie Griffith and Alvis Grover Hatcher. Besides her parents, five older brothers and a grandson, she is preceded in death by her late husband Bernard (Doe) Dozier and her first husband, the late George Williams, Jr. Surviving family includes one daughter, Pamela Williams Voight, her husband, Jimmy, and their two sons, Austin and Chase, of Tampa, FL; step-son William (Bill) Dozier and his wife, Monica, of Beckley, and their son, Dennis, living in Tampa, FL; step-daughter Shelby Vass and her husband, Lewis, and their two children, Greg and Debbie, of Clearwater, FL; step-son George Waybright, son of George Williams Jr., living in Fairmount, GA; one sister, Mrs. Tony (Betsy) Gonzalez, of Beckley; one brother, Grover Hatcher, and his wife, Audrey, of Fiskdale, MA; sisters-in-law Susan Hatcher of Higgins Lake, MI, Irene Williams of Beckley, Lillian Hatcher of Rochester, MI, and Jane Johnson of Palm Bay, FL; nieces Cynthia Hatcher Prince of Grand Blanc, MI, Joy Hatcher Cheeks of Bluefield, and Lisa Hatcher Byles of Richmond, VA; and one nephew, Greg Hatcher, of Palm Bay, FL. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson in 1945 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Beckley. She had worked at Universal Corporation for 38 years as a bookkeeper and office manager. During those many years at Universal, she developed life-long friendships she treasured dearly. She enjoyed bowling, golf, and trips to Myrtle Beach with her friends and family. She had been a member of the Black Knight Country Club and Moose Club Chapter 822. She always enjoyed sharing good times with her many friends at the Moose Club and had missed this while in Florida. After fighting a long, courageous battle with many health issues and missing her sister, close friends, and hometown during the last year, she has come back to Beckley to rest beside her loving husband, Doe. Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept 7, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with the Sr. Pastor of the First Baptist Church, Dr. Phil Smith, officiating and Memorial Baptist Church, Senior Members Pastor Dr. Charles Bright. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 10 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will include Dennis Dozier, Bill Dozier, Austin Voight, Chase Voight, Jimmy Voight, and Ed Vickers. Ralph Schrader will serve as honorary pallbearer. In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy can be made to Life Path Hospice, 12973 Telecom Parkway, Suite 100, Temple Terrace, FL 33637 or online at www.lifepath-hospice.org. Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, is in charge of the arrangements.
